OUR CHALLENGE
To build an everyday brand, packaging and Shopify experience that is bold and breaks the rules but is still clean and minimal.
BEHIND THE BRAND
Prima aimed to revolutionize the protein bar market with their ancestral protein bar. They needed an aligned brand experience to attract today’s health-conscious consumers and convey the uniqueness of their product - they’re one of the only bars with grass-fed tallow. Prima’s goal was to start with their online presence and expand to larger retailers and online giants like Amazon where they could stand out on the crowded shelves.
There are plenty of other protein bars marketed as clean but few are as clean as Prima or have the taste they do. The key difference between Prima and their competitors, aside from the quality of their ingredients, is their elevated and memorable look.
So our main focus was to develop a premium brand experience that clearly communicates their unique selling points and positions Prima as a trustworthy, premium quality protein bar. Our goal was to develop a cohesive brand identity that reflects their ancestral nutrition philosophy while appealing to modern consumers, design their packaging to enhance shelf presence, and create an engaging online platform to boost sales and brand awareness.
Customers rave about the taste but they really love the the difference that Prima’s premium quality ingredients have on their overall health. While other protein bars often have a chalk taste and leave you feeling hungry, Prima’s bars are a decadent sweet treat packed with nutrient dens ingredients that leave you feeling satisfied. Resulting in better eating habits and overall health.
We immersed ourselves in Prima's mission to reconnect people with real, ancestral foods. Understanding their commitment to nutrient-dense, natural ingredients was crucial.
Strategic Choices:
Brand Identity: Developed a logo and visual language that blend ancestral elements with a contemporary twist, ensuring relevance to today's market.
Packaging Design: Created eye-catching packaging that highlights key product benefits, such as "100% Grass-Fed" and "Organic Whole Food Ingredients," to immediately communicate value to consumers.
Website Overhaul: Designed a user-friendly, visually appealing website that tells Prima's story, showcases their products, and facilitates easy online purchases.
So our question became this – how can we communicate these results through design?
Our solution was to create a logo and brand pattern that illustrates this idea of deep nourishment and layers of protection for your nails. This felt like a perfect way to:
Reference the benefits of their products
Make the branding more memorable with a simple and easy to recognize icon / pattern.
Separate the brand from competitors (because many other brands don’t use any kind of illustrative mark in their branding).
